You have been unhappy with the tutor you hired for your child. Neither have your child’s grades improved, nor has enthusiasm been shown by the tutor you hired. You wonder and worry whether there is an alternative.

Yes, there are. All you need is a computer at home, and an internet connection. Today on the web, you can find thousands of tutors you need. Indeed at one point, this author noted there were more than 2, 00,000 tutor online. Of course not all may suit you, but some will certainly be worth it.

Online tutoring is the newest alternative for those who seek quality tutoring of their children. There are tutors of all kinds, and tutoring agencies of various types; some specialize in one subject alone, and others cater to all subjects. These tutors are located within your own country, and also are from the rest of the world. Your alternatives are not limited; rather, they have grown, instead of the small group of teachers you knew within your own community.

In online tutoring, there are two things to consider. One is whether the other person – the tutor – is fully conversant with the English language and two whether the tutor knows the syllabi of your child’s school. Third, whether that particular tutor or agency has really got the skill set that is required to take hold of your child’s hand, and guide him through the various facets of the subject that he is deficient in.

You can check out these facts by going through some of the sites. Most probably for the English language capability, outside of America and US, the choice would most likely be India. India has a long tradition of learning, on which it places great value, and importantly, the subjects taught are likely to be nearly along the same lines as your child’s school, since the curriculum was set nearly a century ago by its then masters, the British.

Nearly all tutoring sites offer some kind of a trial. Try them out. You can be sure you will find one that will suit your pocket; some of the sites, at least from India, are quite inexpensive, say around $ 15 per hour. And the time difference between America and India helps. When your child has had horsed around enough in the evening, and it’s time to sit down for home work or study, at that time the tutor in India would have had his dinner and be ready for coaching.

Online tutoring, or coaching, entails three things; one, is obviously a computer system, and I am sure your child knows how to manipulate the mouse and use the keyboard, second is a digital pen, and of course something which can be easily provided in a Skype connection. The digital pen is for use on the virtual blackboard that is often used by the tutor and the student, and the Skype connection helps the student to communicate orally with his tutor. The most relevant factor here is that since the tutor is located at a distance, there is a certain degree of restraint on the part of the child and the tutor. Restraint on the part of the child is that he is more likely to be more attentive than when he was being tutored at home.

Another advantage of the system is that if the student comes up against a problem, after his time is up, or he has late night thought about, he can still submit his query to the tutor by email, and the tutor would be able to either post an answer on the mailbox, or can take it up when next they both get together online.

Some facts and figures cannot be converted into words or communicated via language. It requires a diagrammatic representation of the problem. That’s where the digital pen and the virtual blackboard come in. Both the student and tutor can use this to interact together. A more important use of such a system is that the tutor can post questions for the student, and the student can both copy it down or save the board itself, and then answer them one by one, as time permits.

Why India you would certainly ask? Quite a reasonable question; it is a fact today, unpleasant though it may sound to the American or the Englishman, that amongst the largest population which speaks English in the world is based in India. Without pressing the matter further, you too would have read reports that students elsewhere in the English speaking countries are themselves not able to spell simple words, and that their quality of language has gone down. My apologies, but facts are facts.

Please also be warned that that even if some tutor or tutorial agency is from India, that does not mean automatically they are saints. Sorry, there are scamsters everywhere. Therefore caution is also advised even when dealing with people from India especially over the internet. You should ask for and get verification of their ability, their capability as demonstrated by their degrees and certainly, ask for references. Even if the reference given is in a far off place, a telephone call, costing pennies, should show you the truth.

You might like to try out one website which this author has seen www.transwebtutors.com. They are one of the largest online tutoring service providers in India. They have highly experience tutors and very rich infrastructure. However you shall verify it yourself, by all means make all enquiries. After all it is your money that is on the line, and your child’s academic future is also on the line. There are other websites too, try them out, and choose the best one suited for your child. That is the bottom line I would say, not a site recommended by anybody.

Good Luck to you and good luck to your child.

For over two centuries now Russian artists have been creating the exquisite beauty with silver inlay and boldly colorful enamels. Russia has yet to have been beat for the silver and enamel art works created by them. A second highly used method is the “Cloisonnes” method. In this method of the enamel application, sections of the art is devised by very thin wires applied were desired and the enamel is then applied between the sections of wiring on the top of the artwork. The “Filigree” method of enamel applications is also done with small silver wire applications, but they are slightly a more detailed design of wired meshing upon the artwork. The technique of enamel has a historical story itself worth telling.

For over two centuries now Russian artists have been creating the exquisite beauty with silver inlay and boldly colorful enamels. The Russian artists whom continue today in passing on down their specially skilled expertness, with the world’s acknowledgment of being number one in their craft. Russia has yet to have been beat for the silver and enamel art works created by them. Brightly colorful Enamel was added for the extra beauty of various types of silver art work by Russian artists long ago and have since then, created several methods in how these two artist materials can be manipulated into true beauty.

One of the most common methods is the “Champleve” form of creative manipulation. In this method, there will first be grooves made into the artwork. Then the durable and brightly colored enamels are applied within the grooves, making the object of silver even more desirable to the eye.

After a copper base application, the powder enamel is compressed by layers on top of the copper base and then fired.

Although the Russians artistically have cornered the market in their specialties of styles and creations, inlay work within silver, copper, stone, pottery, wood and other materials have been inlaid with ivory, precious stones and enamel throughout time. With the help of cultural archaeologically many styles of inlay artworks have been discovered within various cultures like China, Greece, Roman civilizations, France, Italy and several other European civilizations, dating back many centuries ago.

The technique of enamel has a historical story itself worth telling. Enamel has mainly been a production of the European countries including Russia, but within the past, the expense of enamel made many artists throughout Europe create this type of artistic works for the highest elite only. Through out the past enamel started to be used less often in many parts of the world, enamel is said by some to be ’saved’ by the Russian artists for their concurring enamel usage on so many of their artworks. Thus, making enamelart more common for all to enjoy.

Learning Speed Reading Methods Without A Seminar

Many courses claim to teach people how to speed read. However, instead of spending the money, try using a few helpful tips to improve your own pace. With some practice, anyone can improve their reading speed without losing comprehension. There are plenty of speed reading methods and information available.

Erase Old Ideas

You may have heard from a parent or grade school teacher that it is important to read each word carefully. If these ideas are ingrained in you, it will be more difficult to learn any speed reading methods. While it is important to not lose your reading comprehension to speed, it is not necessary to focus on every syllable on the page. Taking time to be thorough will reduce your overall reading speed.

Gathering The Main Ideas Of A Passage

Depending on what you are reading, there may not even be a need to read every paragraph in its entirety. Many speed reading methods focus on gathering the main ideas of a passage instead of every detail. This may not be ideal in every situation, but in the end comprehension is the most important factor in any speed reading methods.

Understanding Themes

Reading the book jacket and table of contents is a great way to familiarize yourself with the themes of a book. By knowing what to expect and what kind of text you are about to read, you can improve your speed. Some speed reading methods suggest that if you know that the next chapter of a textbook will cover a subject in detail, you can skim any information in the present chapter. However, if a topic will only be covered in one particular section, you will want to pay more attention and absorb the details.

Never Re-Read The Information

When learning any speed reading methods, it is important to never have to re-read information. This will naturally slow you down. If you are missing things and having to go back, it defeats the purpose of learning speed reading methods. It is essential to absorb all the important concepts of the book the first time around and to be able to identify which details you will need in the future and which are fine to skim.

For example, if you are reading something to find new techniques you may not need to know specifics about the philosophy and background of the subject. Know what you want to focus on before you sit down, and your speed reading methods will be more effective.

President Kennedy Was A fast Speed Reader

While the average person reads at a pace of 250 words per minute, with the right speed reading techniques you may be able to up your pace to ore than 600 words per minute. This may sound difficult but it is an achievable goal. It is said that President Kennedy could read at a pace of 1200 words per minute. If you put your mind to it, you too can read more quickly and efficiently.

When teachers are helping students become independent and skilled readers, many of the turn to the guided reading philosophy. By using a guided reading program, students progressively learn and develop different skills related to phonics, grammar, and reading comprehension. While the primary grades are typically targeted with a guided reading philosophy, it can also be an effective technique to help older students who need improvement. It can encourage skills such as research and information gathering in these older students. When the guided reading philosophy is used to its best advantage, students learn all the necessary skills to read successfully and to enjoy the activity for the rest of their lives.

What Is The Guided Reading Philosophy?

When putting a guided reading program together, students are generally put in smaller groups of four to six children. This team will all read the same book and complete any assignments related to it. It is important for the guided reading philosophy that the book chosen is appropriate for the level of all the students in the group, which is why children may often be separated into groups with similar learning needs. With young readers, teachers may often employ pictures and picture books to aid with comprehension. Attaching the word to an image of the item can help develop comprehension.

Guided Reading Technique

A second common technique is to look for common letter combinations in a word, which helps the child sound it out. For instance the letters “-at” and “-it” are typical pairings in children’s books. It may be helpful for the child to read the entire sentence out loud, and attempt to decipher the word by its context. In the guided reading philosophy, multiple techniques are encouraged to help children with all learning styles.

Children Using A Guided Reading Philosophy

Teachers may also discuss ideas such as predicting what a book is about, based on things like the title or cover illustrations. Children in a group using the guided reading philosophy may be asked to evaluate the story, and explain what parts they liked and did not like. There are many other strategies that fit into this type of program. For instance, children may discuss solutions to problems that arise in the story or be asked to predict what they think is going to happen next.

Diverse Reading Strategies

While this group of strategies may seem diverse, they all fall within a guided reading philosophy and are designed to help students improve their reading comprehension. By learning these skills at an early age, they can enjoy independent reading. Parents should learn what strategies work best with their children and use them when they are reading together at home.

Achieving Academic Success

For a child to achieve academic success, they need to have good reading skills. The guided reading philosophy is an effective way to help your child improve their skills one step at a time. The better your child learns to read, the more success they will enjoy in their later education.

There are many reading comprehension lesson plans available to download from the Internet. These templates provide all manner of plans and can be duplicated and integrated into a classroom curriculum. When looking for a reading comprehension lesson plan, take into account software titles, student assignments, lesson goals, the technology needed, assessment, and the context of what is being taught. Many of these reading comprehension lesson plans can be adapted to suit the needs of a specific environment, with just a little additional effort.

Content Type

It is important to consider the type of knowledge that a particular reading comprehension lesson plan is striving to impart. Concepts such as fluency, phonics, and listening are just a few aspects of comprehension. These sub-headings can be important parts of your lesson plan. The first column on your plan’s grid should focus on these topics that you want the lesson plan to help with. Having the lesson plan laid out in a grid makes it convenient to modify and use as a future template.

Reading Comprehension Software

The second important characteristic of a reading comprehension lesson plan involved the standards that the lessons will be using or striving towards. For instance, things like English/L.A.6, 5, 4 could be brought up in this category. After that, it is important for the different software programs that will be necessary to be listed. Some programs may use Kid Pix, Access, or Excel. There are more titles available each day that can be blended well with a student’s classwork. Having the proper software can help children with a variety of learning styles follow the reading comprehension lesson plan in a way that best suits them.

Reading Comprehension Lesson Plan Template

The reading comprehension lesson plan template should also state what assessments should be developed and reviewed prior to the beginning of the project. It is also important to note if students will be able to look over the software to get acquainted with it before they begin their lessons. It can be helpful for students to develop a level of comfort with any new program before they are expected to perform in an assessment situation.

Preparation Before The Lesson

The last point that a reading comprehension lesson plan should state clearly is in what manner the students need to prepare before their lessons. Will there be learning based on projects? What types of groups will be used? It is also important to identify any technological problems that may need to be addressed with students. A set of goals that the students need to achieve should be clearly spelled out in the lesson plan.

Best template For Your Students

Once teachers have a basic template for a reading comprehension lesson plan, they can infinitely adjust it to meet the needs of their students and classroom environment. Spend time browsing the available material online to find the best template for your students.Less work will need to be done adjusting the reading comprehension lesson plan if the most appropriate one is chosen.

One of the most critical learning skills that children will learn in their early education is learning how to read. An expert once noted that in the early education years, children are taught to learn to read, but in later years children will read to learn. Consider how much time was spent during school and through homework time reading workbooks, textbooks and various types of information that the teacher provided or wrote on the chalkboard for the class. Kids who do not develop their reading skills with adequate reading fluency activities, will most likely find themselves at a significant disadvantage in other subjects such as social studies, math and science. Because reading is a core academic skill, it is very essential that educators and parents develop reading fluency activities and strategies that work with their kids.

Before Reading Fluency Activities

Reading fluency activities that are successful begin to work before a student ever opens a single book. By studying the title of a book, a student readers can begin to make thoughtful predictions about the subject and story line of the book. Students might start to consider what an author’s purpose was in creating and writing the story. By scanning the pages of the story, students can look for various clues about what the plot might be about as well as getting a better idea of how the story is written. These early reading fluency activities can help to prepare a reader for what is about to happen in the story, and may also help a reader to think about what the plot of the story will involve before even a single word has been read.

During Reading Fluency Activities

The next phase of reading fluency activities that are successful occurs when the story or book is actually read. During this process, students will have learn how to improve their ability to recognize unfamiliar words, understand new vocabulary and then proceed with actually reading through the text. Students will sometimes be asked the best way to resolve a conflict that is occurring in the story, or perhaps be asked to predict the possible outcomes of a particular situation. There might be time for rereading certain parts of the text which might be necessary for better story clarification and comprehension of the text.

After Reading Fluency Activities

One activity that many readers don’t truly realize the true benefits of, is reading fluency activities after the story has been read. This activity allows students to actually digest what have been read. This activity might include actually quizzing students on the comprehension details or it could simply be discussing how the story made them feel or maybe why they didn’t like a character.

By using sound reading fluency activities and finding which one works best for an individual student, teachers and parents can help their students to become the best readers possible. And in the end, readers will make for better overall students.

To help your child improve his or her reading skills, teachers use what is known as reading levels to help create guided reading curriculum’s. Each reading level has a set of books that are specifically geared towards improving different reading skills and comprehension, depending in part on the child’s age. If you would like to use summer vacation to help your child get a head start, his or her teacher should be able to provide you with the list ahead of time. This can help you create your own guided reading curriculum.

The guided reading curriculum become slightly more advanced with each passing school year. The hope is that when the child graduates from the sixth grade, they will have acquired a large set of reading comprehension skills. These skills will help them succeed in middle school, high school, and beyond. Here are a few examples of what a good guided reading curriculum should strive to teach.

Kindergarten

As the child begins learning to read and enters school for the first time, they begin with a guided reading curriculum meant to impart the basics of reading. The books use sentences that may be only two or three words, and each of these words tends to be four or fewer letters. Such examples as “See Spot Run” may be memories from your childhood, and are still popular favorites in a kindergarten guided reading curriculum.

The goal of these books is to teach children the sounds that the different letters make, and to help them understand how these sounds change as the letters are strung together. Often they employ rhyming words to help reinforce the patterns. A young child’s guided reading curriculum has the primary goal of providing the building blocks of language.

First Grade

As first graders begin to progress, the guided reading curriculum will begin to introduce slightly more advanced skills. It often begins with learning the difference between nouns and verbs, and builds upon the skills learned in kindergarten. These stories may also be more advanced, containing longer sentences and plots where the characters interact more frequently.

Second Grade

The more advanced second grade guided reading curriculum finds children more able to answer questions about the stories they have read. Their reading comprehension has advanced, as well as their retention of the material. Many children this age even begin to read short chapter books.

While a guided reading curriculum is generally created for a specific age group, it is important to assess where a particular student is and find appropriate material for their level. Students with a lower comprehension should be approached with material to help meet their needs, without making them feel inadequate. This is also important for students with learning disabilities. It may be helpful to use a guided reading curriculum that has advanced stories told in a simple, building block format in cases like these.

If you understand your child’s reading level and guided reading curriculum, you can help them meet their educational goals and spend quality time with them.

It’s time to discuss chemistry, algebra, mythology, and many other chosen standard curriculum and how they affect our lives (or don’t). When we look at today’s declining graduation rate, we love our typical scapegoats: lack of parental interaction, the internet, the economy, and so on. While the fact that these have an effect is most certainly true, perhaps we should look a little deeper.

Let’s face it, people: we are in the “New Millennium.” It’s the 21st Century. That doesn’t mean flying cars or that life needs to be like The Jetsons. It means we are in a new era, “the zeroes.” The zeroes have brought about a lot of changes, both positive and negative. It depends where you look. The internet itself has had both a good and bad impact on our society as a whole, for one example. To say it hasn’t changed everything, in some way or another, would be simply untrue.

So that’s it, this is a new time and time for a new approach. We know this. Everyone is more open-minded than they used to be, and yet a lot of major life issues are not in good shape. Why is that?

The reason we are struggling is because we are at a crossroads in time. Perhaps it’s partly placebo, but our awareness that change is possible and within our reach has sharpened. This new heightened sense of focus and optimism can help us make the changes we need in our education system.

There is no doubt that it’s time to address our system. Public schools simply are not efficient. The media often repeats the mantra, “We need to pay our teachers more.” Ha—as if! No, seriously, that is true sometimes, but no, that is not worth constantly repeating, if it means we are wasting time that should be spent looking at the real root of the “school problem.”

It’s chemistry, biology, algebra, calculus, greek mythology, and so on. What is it about this academia that is not settling right, when you look at those words? Here’s a hint: look at those and consider how many of those subjects have directly helped you in your every day life? If you said more than zero or one, you are either lying or you have a very unique career. Otherwise, there is little relevance in those subjects.

Stop the press! Don’t get all bent out of shape just yet! Give this a moment; there’s an explanation and it is genuinely rational! The point of school is not to just provide a curriculum that teaches people to live their lives; on the contrary. (After all, it is assumed that they will learn common sense at home, best case scenario.) The point of formal education is to help children learn to, well, learn.

So yes, this is not news. We know why we have a fundamental school system, and why that is core to a civilized and rapidly advancing society. But there is an element, a crucial aspect here, that is being continuously overlooked: again, the relevance of the subjects taught in school.

There needs to be a wider variety of subjects. We need to make changes to the education curriculum, which acknowledge a few things that are very true, but again, often ignored. First of all, our children are not all learning common sense at home. We need to teach kids to change their own oil, do their taxes, balance a checkbook, get a mortgage, drive cars (teach them the rules of the road years before driver education begins), and other daily life things.

And why are we filling their heads with needless garbage like Greek Mythology? What relevance does that have? Sure, spend a week on it… but why do many public schools spend an entire semester on that? This is so backwards. We will spend a semester on Greek Mythology, a year on chemistry, four to six years on advanced math that will never be used by the vast majority of all graduates, and yet… We do not teach kids how to avoid identity theft and stay safe online. What is wrong with us???

Why are we assuming that the parents not only know everything our children need, but that they have time and are willing to teach it? The education system clearly needs an overhaul. Curriculum changes would be a start. Maybe school should be a balance of work and fun, too, if we are going to ship our kids off to there for 6 hours a day. Let’s let them be kids for a bit, too.

Sure, our growing children need to learn discipline and learn to work, but they will have the rest of their lives to do that. Balance and better curriculum would make kids want to stay in school! That would resolve the decline in the graduation rate. Educators and school boards: I dare you to try these changes and see the results!

Advanced Placement Chemistry (AP Chem) is only one of the 35 Advanced Placement courses (in over 20 different subjects) participated in by over a million gifted, talented, and/or highly motivated students each year.

Each student of AP Chem will become well acquainted, if not completely familiar with a multitude of subject matter including, but not limited to: chemical bonds, chemical reactions, chemical equilibrium, properties and phases of matter and solutions, nuclear chemistry, reaction kinetics, atomic theory, stoichiometry, and thermodynamics.

Successful completion of both a second-year high school algebra course and general chemistry course are recommended as prerequisites prior to taking an AP Chem class. An AP Chem course is the equivalent to a first-year college general chemistry course, including laboratory experience.

Typically, AP courses are taken in preparation for the Advanced Placement Examaminations (AP Exams) taken in May of each year. The two main sections of the AP Chem Exam are currently 6 free-response essay questions based on hypothetical scenarios and 75 multiple-choice questions.

A periodic table of elements is the only acceptable reference material in the hour and a half of time alloted for section one. The use of a calculator is forbidden during the multiple-choice questions section and during the second part of section two. However, two pages of conventions, equations, and a list of standard reduction potentials may be used in section two.

The second section is split into two subsections of two problems each, (A) 55 and (B) 40 mintues, respectively. If subsection B is completed early, subsection A may be edited in the time remaining.

The AP Chemistry Exam is available to any student in secondary school throughout the U.S. and Canada, but also to home-school students. Regardless of the letter grade attained in class or even whether or not the student has even taken the AP Chem course, he or she is eligible take the AP Exam.

These college-level exams and programs have been stringently improved and regularly updated since their initial inception in 1955, by the College Board. Though the organization known as the College Board is a non-profit organization, students are charged a fee in order to take the exams. Financial aid is available to those who qualify.

The exams are scored on a scale of 1 through 5. A score of 1 (No Recommendation) is effectively an “F”, while a 5 (Well-Qualified) equates to an “A”, though typical transcripts simply show whether or not credit has been acquired. Test scores are compared, using the bell curve grading method, as opposed to a set standard. Though their policies differ, most colleges accept a score of 4 or 5; a 3 is considered “passing” or “Qualified.” Approximately 25% of the nearly 100,000 students who take the AP Chemistry exam receive a failing score of 1.

A student demonstrating aptitude by scoring “Qualified” (or better) on AP tests are often exempt from introductory course requirements by many colleges and universities. Over two thousand colleges participate in Advanced Placement Programs. Admissions Counselors and/or Course Advisors should be consulted due to variations in placement testing methods and policies at individual institutions of higher learning.

Shark videos are for the purpose of educating people about the basic facts of the greatest predator under the sea.

Sharks are one of the nature’s greatest predator and highly intelligent species. Sharks have social hierarchy system and they also possess problem-solving skills and are curious by nature. Sharks sense of smell are keen, they spot a one part per million of blood in seawater that is miles away. Their sense of sight is well adapted for marine environment and their sense of hearing is so sharp, they can hear a prey that is mile away. They also possesses an electro receptor organs called Ampullae of Lorenzini that gives them the greatest electrical sensitivity in all of animal kingdom and help them find prey hidden in depths of sand.

Sharks are very peculiar beasts and it is no wonder people centuries over have been fascinated by them. Shark videos will give you an opportunity to learn more about these fascinating creatures of the wild. These videos will educate us about this marine specie. Many of us have mistakenly believed that sharks are significantly threat to human life. The greater number of the 370 species of sharks is harmless. Sharks can eat varieties of food.

The whale and basking sharks are the biggest species on this kind which are plankton eater and not a threat to humans. In fact, many of these bigger fast swimming sharks are true meat-eating animals and an astounding different and amount of food have been found in some of these marine creatures. These various numbers of indigestible items taken from the sharks stomachs are probably the effect of the feeding frenzy that occurs when a group of sharks arbitrarily attack anything that comes their way but when sharks uses humans for food, serious conflict arises. Acting as a scavengers as well as top carnivores, sharks are truly important in the ecology of the oceans. The reaction on shark’s attacks is often not based on facts but in emotions because shark attack on human is an exceptionally rare occurrence.

There are increasing dangers from humans that these sharks and their cartilaginous relatives, skates and rates are facing. For every person killed by a shark, over 23,000 tonnes of sharks and rays are killed through recreational and commercial fishing because we, humans target them for their meat and for their fins. They are also killed as by catch when some other species is in target. Sharks have a low reproductive capacity and are not substituting their numbers as fast as humans are killing them. More of protection of this marine creature is needed and this is one of the purposes of having shark videos. This is a continuous concern in our society, to protect these large carnivorous animals that affect our human’s population.

It gives the desire to those who were not well informed that this marine creature be slaughtered to extinction. This is the reason why many of these species are already endangered and some of them are protected. We are required to be enlightened on the value of this species, the actual and the perceived risks to humans and how best to minimize that risk and the methods and consequences of protecting threatened marine species, like sharks. It will be a great ease that globalization came because you can search and find information about you needed in the comfort of your home. If you want to learn more about the marine life and your interest might be in the largest predatory fish in the world, you can find shark videos on the Internet.
